Most people know about the advice to walk 10,000 steps a day, but simply knowing that "it's good for you" is not always enough motivation to do something. So when I realized that walking 10,000 steps a day burns 300-500 calories, depending on your weight and pace, it got a totally different meaning for me -- it means I have way more leeway for dessert! ;) I try to stay around 1,500 calories a day, so having 300 extra calories to either help with staying under my calorie goal or allow me to have more yummy food is honestly a game changer. I couldn't walk a lot for almost two months this summer, dealing with a Lyme disease flare-up, so now when I'm recovered and can meet my step goal again I definitely see and feel the difference! On the whole I just feel so much healthier when I walk a lot -- happier, slimmer, less anxious. So if you don't have time or motivation to work out, simply walking is a great alternative and easy to incorporate in your daily life! Related articles:
