I think that the most important thing to do when you have depression, anxiety, or any mental issue, is to take care of yourself.
It might feel like, "Well, duh," but self-care involves so many things. It's not just staying in with a good book and pampering yourself with a deep-conditioning hair mask (although it might be exactly what you need!); it's exercising regularly, it's taking care of your financial situation, and it's assessing what you need today. And it's doing it over and over again. Having a spa night feels great, but what about tomorrow? Or next week? As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Building good habits also involves learning how to self-care. (Yes, I decided that this is a verb now.) As with anything it takes a bit of practice, but in time you'll be able to recognize when you need to go for a run, when you need to meet up with a friend for some socializing, and when you're simply dehydrated. It's an art form you can master, just like everything else. :)
To get you started I created a week-long self-care challenge where you write down every day what you did for yourself. You can also schedule your self-care activities in beforehand if you like to be organized and cross things off your to-do list!
For me it helps to have concrete suggestions so I don't get stuck trying to think of what to do instead of actually doing anything, so I also made a list of thirty self-care ideas you can look at and pick the ones that suit your life and needs. If your challenge goes well, why not make it a month-long one and do them all! Baby steps though -- start with your week, and go from there. You've got this. :) Free 7 Day Self-Care Challenge!Get a printable self-care planner & tracker with 30 ideas to choose from! Thank you!You will have it in your email shortly.
